Position Overview:
We are seeking a talented and motivated Propulsion Engineer to join our team. This role involves contributing to the design, analysis, testing, and integration of propulsion systems for satellites. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver innovative and reliable propulsion solutions, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.
Responsibilities:
Design and CAD Modelling:
Develop detailed 3D CAD models of propulsion system components and assemblies.
Ensure designs are optimized for performance, manufacturability, and integration.
Analysis and Simulation:
Perform structural, thermal, and fluid/combustion analyses to validate and optimize designs.
Use advanced tools (e.g., ANSYS, CFD software) for simulations and performance evaluations.
Testing and Validation:
Plan, execute, and analyse propulsion system tests, including performance and durability testing.
Collaborate in the design of test rigs and instrumentation for system validation.
System Engineering:
Work on system-level integration, ensuring seamless interaction between propulsion systems and other subsystems.
Perform trade studies and risk assessments to support design decisions.
Troubleshooting and Iteration:
Identify and resolve technical challenges during development, testing, and integration phases.
Continuously improve propulsion designs based on test data and system performance.
Collaboration and Documentation:
Collaborate with teams across disciplines to meet project goals and ensure system compatibility.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of designs, analyses, and test results.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Proficiency in CAD modelling tools (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and experience in detailed design.
Strong background in structural, thermal, and flow/combustion analysis, with proficiency in tools like ANSYS, Fluent, or similar.
Hands-on experience with propulsion system testing and validation.
Knowledge of system engineering principles and practices.
Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
Strong collaboration and communication abilities in a multidisciplinary team setting.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Familiarity with advanced manufacturing techniques, including additive manufacturing.
Experience working on propulsion systems in an aerospace or related industry.
Knowledge of data acquisition systems and instrumentation for testing.
Understanding of regulatory standards and safety practices for propulsion systems.
